Derrick and Lorrie are owners of Laurel Gymnastics and Cheer. Lorrie has almost 30 years of gymnastics and cheerleading experience. She has coached several squads from the peewee to the varsity level. She has a masters degree in elementary education from William Carey University. Derrick has an engineering degree from MSU, and a MBA from USM. He currently works at The Solar Group in Taylorsville, MS. Derrick and Lorrie have two children- Mason, 18, and Maylen , who is 16. They attend Life Church. Derrick and Lorrie are both CPR and first aid certified.
Jena Brady is definitely the glue of our establishment. If you have been through the doors of LGC in the last 16 years, then you definitely know Mrs. Jena. She loves people and greets everyone with a smile. Jena is our office manager and has also been a vital part of our all-star program serving as director for 5 years. Jena has also been judging cheerleader tryouts for over 15 years. We could not function on a daily basis without Mrs. Jena! She truly loves our students and families and enjoys watching them excel in the gym! She is happy to help out in any way she can if you call or stop by the gym. If Jena is not at the gym, she can most likely be found shopping or at the beach! Jena is a huge blessing and a daily life saver at LGC!
Lisa's cheerleading experience includes NEJ High School, JCJC and USM. She has been the head cheer coach at NEJ since 2006. Lisa has been an instructor at LGC since 1995. She started coaching All Stars in 2010. She is USASF certified in levels 1 -4. Lisa is also AACCA Certified, NCA Certified, and CPR/first aid certified.
Angela Golobay has been coaching at LGC for over 20 years. During those twenty years, she also spent a few years as our office manager. She and her husband Paul have been married for 20 years. They have three sons: Jase, Jacob and Landon. She has experience in all levels of cheerleading instruction. Angela has coached and choreographed routines for elementary, junior high and high school cheerleader squads. She is a former assistant coach for the Jones County Junior College Cheerleaders and former director/coach for the Gem of Champion’s all-star team. Angela also directs and instructs summer cheerleading camps for LGC. She is currently the director of cheerleading at Glade Elementary School and the cheerleader coordinator for Southeastern Baptist College. Angela enjoys teaching private tumbling lessons and is now teaching some of her former cheerleaders’ daughters. It is a privilege to have Angela on staff at LGC!
Petey Thigpen is from Ellisville, MS. He is a senior coach at LGC with a total of twelve years teaching experience, six of those years being at LGC. Petey was a member of the collegiate National Championship team while at The University of Louisiana at Monroe. Petey works with kids of all ages from beginner to advanced tumbling. Petey is a huge asset to our team at LGC.
Mason Dry is from Laurel, MS. He has been working at LGC for five years. Mason was an All Star Cheerleader for LGC Xtreme, Gem of Champions (Laurel and D’Iberville) and Louisiana Spirit. He was also a cheerleader at Jones College. Mason is a recent graduate of Jones College and plans to further his education at the University of Southern Mississippi. In his free time, Mason enjoys drawing. He specializes in graphite portraits. He also enjoys golf. At the gym, Mason works with kids of all ages and all levels of experience. Safety and proper technique is of upmost importance to Mason as he teaches tumbling. We are so happy to have Mason at LGC!
Maylen Dry is from Laurel, MS. She has been teaching gymnastics for a little over three years. She also instructs cheerleading clinics throughout the summer at LGC. Maylen graduated from West Jones High School and now attends Jones College pursuing a degree in elementary education. She has taken gymnastics almost her entire life. She started cheering as a HOT SHOT at LGC when she was three. Maylen was an all-star cheerleader for over 10 years. She cheered for LGC Xtreme and Gem of Champions. Maylen absolutely loves her students and teaching tumbling.
Madison Geiger is from Laurel, MS. She is 19 years old and a recent graduate from West Jones High School. She started cheerleading as a HOT SHOT at LGC when she was three years old. Madison was a cheerleader for the Sharon Tigers and West Jones Mustangs where she was captain her senior year. Madison was an all-star cheerleader for LGC Xtreme, Gem of Champions and ACE Chiefs. She is currently a student at Jones College pursuing a nursing degree. Madison is a senior coach at LGC, and she also instructs summer cheerleading camps or LGC. Madison has taken a break from cheerleading for the moment, but stay tuned! We don’t think she is finished just yet. Madison is a huge asset to our coaching staff, and she is adored by all of her students.
Josh Bell is from Madison, Ms. He is a graduate of Germantown highschool where he was a member of their state champion cheer squad. Josh was an All Star cheerleader for ten years. He cheered with Central MS cheerleading, Southern Athletics and Jam Athletics. He has been coaching tumbling for three years. In Josh’s free time, he enjoys bowling. He plans to further his education at Ole Miss in the field of engineering. We are thrilled to have Josh as a part of our staff!
Chris Archie is from Brandon, MS. He and his wife Breann have three children. Chris began cheering in All Stars while he was in high school in Brandon. He then cheered for JCJC and went on The University of Louisiana at Monroe. He has been coaching tumbling for seventeen years, eight of those with LGC. Chris is a senior coach at LGC, and he works with kids of all ages from beginner level through advanced. Chris has also been judging cheerleader tryouts for 12 years throughout the Southeast. Chris has a strong work ethic. He believes you get out of something what you put in to it. His favorite coffee is a vanilla frappe from Small Coffee Big Taste. In his free time, he likes to play golf. We are so happy to have Chris as part of our coaching staff.
